The Colorado Hockey Institute vision when founded in 2007 by Jim Plummer was to provide services aimed at improving organization skills, and education for coaches, athletes and hockey associations. We have transformed into a software development company and can perform direct education and research in addition to offering organizational, management, marketing and technology services.
Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Jim moved to Colorado in 1993 and continues to live there today. Jim has over 40 years of passion for hockey which includes playing, coaching and just being a fan of the game.
Jim is a Level 4 USA Hockey coach, and has coached primarily girls hockey from U12 to U19 as well as high school hockey. Jim was the Co-Director of Coaching for the Colorado Select Girls Hockey Association from 2007-2012. In 2007-2008 Jim was honored by the Colorado Select as the Coach of the Year.
In 2008-2009 Jim was the coach for the U14AA team with the Colorado Select, winning the Rocky Mountain District Championship. Jim also coached Colorado Select teams in the Mountain States Girls Hockey League (MSGHL) at the U12, U14, and U19 age levels. As an assistant coach with the U16AA team in 2009-2010 the team won State and the District tournaments and made the quarter final round at the National Championship. In the summer of 2010, Jim coached the MSGHL All Star team for their first trip to an elite hockey tournament in Buffalo, NY. In 2011 Jim coached the Thunder Ridge Grizzlies Varsity High School Girls Hockey Team and won the High Plains Hockey League State Championship.
Jim's full time profession is as an Executive Technology Conusultant with over 30 years of experience in Information Technology strategy, design, development, and management. Jim is currently the SVP of Technology and a Managing Principal with DBAK.
Combining Jim's strengths in technology, organization skills, and management with hockey, Jim has developed several tools, techniques and approaches that will help all coaches be more successful. Jim enjoys speaking engagements with hockey associations, coaching workshops and working with coaches all over the world including the United States, Canada, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
Andrea Plummer joined the team in 2013 fulfilling multiple roles from developing content, testing products, providing customer support and most recently heading up the social media marketing side of the business.
Andrea is a Senior studying Communication and Computer Science at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Andrea plays on the CU Women's Hockey Team participating in the Division I Western Womens Collegiate Hockey League (WWCHL) part of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).
